Marteana Davidson - Video Technology Coordinator

Picture
Marteana began her video production career in the Missouri House of Representatives where she served as a Broadcast Services Specialist in the House Communications department.  Davidson co-produced two shows with Missouri Senate Communications; Missouri Legislative Update, a magazine-style news program focusing on current happenings in the legislative branch and Capitol Diaologue, a panel discussion between legislators, hosted by Bob Priddy.

Other responsibilities in House Communications included the following:
* Updating the House of Representatives radio news service
* Videotaping press conferences in the Governor’s office, debates in the House chamber, interview legislators and special events, i.e. Inaugural Ball
* Providing satellite uplinks local news stations
* Assisting local print media in the press box
* editing news packages for Missouri Legislative Update

During her time in the state capitol she was able to attend two television workshops at Maine Media Workshop/College where she learned valuable skills about producing television programming. After a two year stint in the Missouri House of Representatives, Davidson went on to work in Ladue High School as a Video Assistant under Charles Marshall, who also became her mentor.  When Charles Marshall retired, Davidson took on the role of manager of the Charles Marshall Video Technology Center and Studio.

One of Davidson’s passions is media literacy. She worked diligently to have media literacy as part of the strategic plan at Ladue School District.  Using grant funds from CableTec she taught media literacy to two English classes at Ladue High School. She is a board member and co-chair of the Communication Committee of Gateway Media Literacy Partners (GMLP), a group who advocates for media literacy education and training. Davidson has taught Media Literacy at Webster University and CSD (Cooperating School Districts). Davidson believes with the constant bombardment of messages that impact our lives, media literacy skills will allow young people to discern motives behind the messages and help them to become mindful media producers.

Davidson has been employed at  Ladue Schools since the winter of 1997 and she strives to make the Charles Marshall Video Technology Center and Studio a facility that fosters student talent in the areas of: Broadcast, Film, and Animation. Her goal is to keep students abreast of the latest technologies and strategies related to media production and literacy.

Marteana earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Webster University. She continues to instruct on professional development days, do free lance video projects and assists with the annual Media Literacy Week hosted by Gateway Media Literacy Partners and St. Louis Community College .
