Fourth place national story of the year for the staff of LHS-TV & Films
Journalism Education Association (JEA)
National Convention 2015
November 12-15
Orlando, Florida
http://orlando.journalismconvention.org
The national convention for JEA is one of the highlights, not only of our broadcast students’ school year, but for many, this trip may end up being one of their highlights of high school.
This information packet is designed to give you an idea of the estimated costs for this trip. In addition, you will find materials about the convention to fully understand what a unique opportunity this convention is for your son or daughter. The students who attend will have the opportunity to be a part of over 6000 journalism students and advisers, learn from industry professionals through workshops and seminars, and compete in onsite video contests to test their skills against students from all over the nation.
In years past, the Dad’s Club, Parents Association, and other groups have generously donated to the students to offset their costs. Last year, we were able to secure close $100 per student through donations. This will once again be a major goal of ours.
Our FINAL date to receive a financial commitment from students who wish to attend is Thursday August 28th. Students who are committing to attending the convention will need to submit a non-refundable $500.00 check made payable to:
LADUE SCHOOL DISTRICT (memo: Broadcasting Activity).
Final payments must be made once our final bill is received from our travel agent for a date in September TBD.
Please contact me with questions.
