  • Finished watching Mobile Journalism videos
  • Discussed students taking initiative of their own learning. If there were SPECIFIC areas of the iTunes U course they would like to see revised, to include those thoughts on their Google Doc reflections.
  • Watched Volume 1 of Video Coach
  • Learning field camera operation and Final Cut Pro X next class
MOST IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER!
  • Shoot in SEQUENCES
  • A sequence uses AT LEAST Wide-Medium-Tight shots. Not 1 shot of BRoll, not 2 shots of BRoll, AT LEAST 3!
  • Main light source goes behind the camera
  • Use manual focus, white balance and iris
  • Shoot using the Rule of Thirds
  • Alternate interview rule of thirds for visual variety
  • NO shot that we see in the final edit should be less than 3 seconds or longer than 7 seconds
  • Always shoot more BRoll than you need
  • Record HANDLES - seconds on the front end and back end of what you actually want to capture in your footage. Allows for easy place to cut and edit.
